Thoughts for Thursday: Emersyn's room is finally done!

Now that it's just 3 days before Miss Emmie's BIG arrival, I finally finished her room. :o)
My mom refinished Grace's old lamp base to look antiqued and we made the lamp shade to go on top.
It's kind of hard to see, but we changed the knobs on the changing table/dresser to crystal pulls.
A lady that works at my dad's office made this diaper stacker to match the bedding.
She's an amazing seamstress!
A closer look at the pattern on the bedding.
The bumper pads are a floral print and the crib skirt is a strip.
A look from a far to get the whole picture!

This is not a great picture, but I, also, had the lady at my dad's office make the curtains too!

The side table by the rocking chair. I purchased this table for a little of nothing and my mom refinished it to match the lamp. I was so amazed when she was finished. She is so talented! Thanks mom for helping me. The pieces look fabulous! :o)

The blanket, on the back of the chair, was also custom made to match the bedding. The top fabric is silk shantung and the bottom is a cream minky swirl fabric with a chiffon ruffle.

A closer look at what's on top of the book shelf and the pictures on the wall.

Here's a look at the book shelf from a distance. I plan on filling the book shelf with books (of course) and special momentos.

P.S. I'm still working on Grace's room...I have curtains to hang and decor to buy for the walls. Pictures to come later when I'm all done. :o)

Happy 4th of July

We had a WONDERFUL day celebrating our freedom in this great country we call AMERICA!

A BIG thank you goes out to our many troops fighting for this right and, also, for their brave heroism and loyalty to our country. May their unselfish acts never go unnoticed.

Jeff and I started the day off by sleeping in a little bit (meaning 8AM), doing a little yard work, and then shopping in peace (Grace spent Saturday night at my parent's house). Then we headed to my parent's house for some swimming, steaks, ice cream, fireworks and good times!

So things have been a little busy around here. We have been in a little bit of a nesting mode (or maybe I should I have.) trying to get the house completely organized, decorating the baby's room, trying to finish up Grace's big girl room and most of all spending some special time with Grace before the baby is here.

Here's a quick update of what's been going on in our lives lately.

Grace's 1st Dance Recital - she did so well and is definitely not afraid of the stage one bit!

Grace turned 3 years old, even though she says she's still 2 and gets mad if you tell her otherwise.
Grace not wanting to pose for the camera at her family party.

.

We took Grace to Kiddie Acres for her actual birthday and instead of eating ice cream or cake for her special birthday treat, she chose popcorn.

We had a Tea party at school with all her friends. The kids decorated felt crowns with jewels and ate cake balls with ice cream and their choice of beverage (chocolate milk, apple juice or tea).

My BIG girl!

Oasis - We went to dinner with one of Jeff's co-workers and her family. They were in town for a mini vacation and a conference.

My cousin, Jamie, and my Aunt Debbie gave me a baby shower at La Madeleine's.

Father's Day - We went to The Salt Lick out in Driftwood on the Saturday before and then spent Sunday at our house lounging and that night at Jeff's parent's house.

Swimming - Grace has been swimming quite a bit this summer. Jeff has taken her to our neighborhood pool, my dad has taken her and so has my mom.

And last, but certainly not least, we came up with a name for our soon to be new addition to our family...

Emersyn Leigh LaRoche

The girls will have almost the same intials with the exception of their middle intial and "Lee" was my maternal grandfather's middle name (we just decided to spell it differently).
